Line BK targets double-digit loan growth
Line BK, one of Thailand's first digital banking platforms, is targeting double-digit loan growth for the full year 2026 after reporting solid performance in the first half despite challenging economic conditions in Thailand.
According to a Bangkok Post report published on 31 July 2026, Line BK grew its outstanding loan portfolio to 29 billion baht as of the end of June, up from 27 billion baht at the end of 2025, representing growth of 7.4%. The platform's customer base exceeded 8.8 million, up 12% year-on-year, while the number of lending customers rose 15% to around 931,000.
Tana Pothikamjorn, chief executive at Kasikorn Line Co Ltd, which operates the Line BK platform, described the first-half results as satisfactory given current economic headwinds and the company's responsible lending approach. He noted that while demand for credit remains strong, access to financing has become more challenging as borrowers' repayment capacity weakens amid Thailand's slowing economic growth and high household debt levels.
Mr Tana stated that maintaining asset quality remains the company's top priority alongside its growth targets, with the non-performing loan ratio kept at a satisfactory level during the first half. He expressed confidence that healthy asset quality will be maintained through the end of the year.
Line BK has continued investing in technology, including enhancements to its KLine Score credit assessment model, aimed at improving customer accessibility and supporting more responsible lending decisions. The company also launched a new loan campaign with features designed to expand access to credit and improve customers' digital financial literacy.
On the broader market outlook, Mr Tana noted that the gradual rollout of virtual banks in Thailand is expected to intensify competition in the digital banking sector while accelerating financial innovation and promoting greater financial inclusion. According to Fitch Ratings Thailand, retail lending growth in recent years has been driven primarily by non-bank lenders, as commercial banks continue to deleverage their consumer loan portfolios.
For expats, investors and business owners in Thailand, the continued growth and evolution of digital lending platforms is a relevant development worth monitoring, particularly as access to financing and the financial landscape more broadly continues to shift.
